Bayrampaşa Ramadan Event

Lighting installations · stage · site layout · cultural programme area

Brief

Bayrampaşa Municipality wanted an event site that would bring the district together in the evenings during Ramadan: a lit street, a stage, stalls and a cultural programme.

Constraint

Open air in the middle of the city, and crowds. The light had to carry the night and still look tidy standing built in daylight; stage, archway, stalls and signs had to share one lighting language.

Solution

Warm white light canopies down the length of the street; a lit archway and crescent at the entrance; the stage front and the signs built in the same lighting language. Separate areas were opened for ebru marbling and children's activities in the cultural programme.

When the street lit up, the stalls already had queues.

Our role

Lighting installations, stage, site layout and the build of the cultural programme area.

Outcome

Each evening the programme moved between stalls, stage and workshops; the district gathered under the same light.
